Wootton High School Celebrates Stan Brodsky and Cicily Daniels in an
Unforgettable Evening of Song, Dance and Love

Rockville, Md. (September 6) -- Rockville, Gaithersburg and Potomac residents won't want to miss this special evening at Wootton High School, the first Patron of the Arts Gala on Saturday, October 15, 2011. The Patrons have put together a remarkable evening in celebration of theater arts in Rockville and the Wootton school community. Here's why:
·         For the first time in the history of Wootton's over four decades of existence, students and alumni from the past will come together to salute one of Maryland's finest teaching directors, Mr. Stan Brodsky, who retired several years ago and left a lasting legacy for the school in theater excellence and memories of a lifetime.
·         Also honored will be Ms. Cicily Daniels, class of '94, who has gone on to appear on Broadway in the original cast of The Little Mermaid, and a wide range of other important theatrical productions. Ms. Daniels will receive the Patrons Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award.
·         Students from the "Brodsky years" will come from around the country and join current students to perform an unforgettable classic Broadway numbers while recalling how and why the theater arts program touched so many in our community. Many of these returning alumni have themselves gone on to successful stage careers in both professional and amateur capacities.
Occasions like this are too rare, people from many generations and years in an outpouring of love, gratitude and affection coming together to pay homage to a school's program and an individual who made such a difference in so many lives. "This is how a community is built and sustained," said Beth Goldberg, President of the Patron of the Arts at Wootton. "Building a strong arts program for the future is made by celebrating the accomplishments of the past and setting our sights for the challenges down the road," she said. "Stan Brodsky and Cicily Daniels represent the best of what Wootton has been and will always be."
No one who participated in the arts program at Wootton these many years can forget the work of Stan Brodsky, who directed such notable school productions as Les Miserables (an acclaimed 2003 production that was one the first such high school efforts in the nation), Brigadoon, Fiddler on the Roof, and so many others, giving so many students fabulous and unforgettable moments in their lives.
This is an event not to be missed. The evening begins with a reception from 7 to 8 pm and an extended production of song, dance and tributes from dozens of alumni and students follows for a once-in-a-lifetime event.

GET READY FOR THE 30TH REUNION!

Updated (August 5, 2011)
Yes, it's almost time to start thinking about the 30th Reunion.  (Could four years have passed by so quickly!)

The Reunion Planning Committee is getting back together again to begin the planning for the 30th Reunion.  Please check back to this website for further updates.  We have also entered the 21st century and established a Facebook page where we will also post updates.
